Telendos
The mountain island in every Masouri sunset. Ten minutes away, no cars, no hurry.
An earthquake split Telendos from Kalymnos in the 6th century. What is left is a steep islet with one waterfront hamlet, ruins along the shore paths and coves that empty out when the last boat leaves.
A workable Telendos day
- Morning boat from Myrties (how it works).
- Walk the waterfront and pick a taverna for lunch.
- Follow a shore path to a cove: right is busier, left quieter.
- Swim, lunch, second swim.
- Boat back, or stay for dinner and take a late crossing.
Staying overnight
A handful of guesthouses make Telendos a base, not just a trip. You wake before the boats and have the water to yourself. One or two nights is the usual dose. Compare with the other bases on where to stay.
