Kos airport to Kalymnos: step by step
From Kos airport you reach Kalymnos in about an hour: a short taxi to Mastihari port, then the local ferry to Pothia. Total cost per person is usually under €20 plus the taxi.
The route to remember: the frequent Kalymnos ferries leave from Mastihari, on the north-west coast near the airport. They do not leave from Kos Town, which lies on the far side of the island.
Step 1: land at Kos (KGS)
Kos airport sits in the middle of the island. Mastihari port is 10 to 15 minutes away by taxi.
Step 2: taxi to Mastihari
Take a taxi at the rank outside arrivals and say clearly: Mastihari, for the Kalymnos ferry. There is also a local bus, but with luggage and a boat to catch the taxi is the practical choice.
Step 3: ferry to Pothia
The crossing takes 30 to 40 minutes and costs about €8 to €10 one way. Buy tickets at the kiosks by the port or online.
In summer boats run roughly every hour or two during the day. In winter the timetable is thin. ANEM Ferries and Lafasi are the operators you will see. Not every boat can be booked online, so the kiosk is normal here.
Step 4: from Pothia to your village
Taxis wait at the port. Pothia to Masouri or Myrties costs about €15 to €20. Rental companies can also deliver a scooter or car to the quay if you book ahead.
